I work full time as a copywriter for another company as well, because it's how I afford to write fiction, and that's been busy, and there's been everything else that's been going on lately, and y'know, if it was all running even with just a very few bumps, I'd be fine, but it's not and I'm tired and I need to call time. The book *can* wait - my dissertation can't. Everythinggn else...I dunno, I'll scale it. Yeah, I know the feeling re:groups. In the meantime, Ash - sweet wounded Ash - has been begging me to go back to his story. I've been putting it off, because the edit was so mean I couldn't bear to look at it, but Ash's story is part of a series I used to love. So yeah, I get it. It's just tough sometimes. I'm working on editing Ash's story even as we speak, even though Convocation needs to be finished. *grins* It's what we do, try to balance the insanity that is the glorious act of writing... I had to put my own time into it at my own speed because every editor I ran up against wanted to not just correct for grammar and whatnot, but subtly coheres my writing style. My book is about new and revolutionary discoveries in the Bible found lurking just below the conscious reading level. To change my style was to change my book. So, in the end, I did it myself: all 20 chapters and 225 pages. It was tedious and time consuming, but I managed to pull it off. Renee Barratt just finished my cover. I am now looking to publish it as an ebook. As per the prior reply, I couldn’t agree more. The writer and the editor have to sort of think alike -- have at least a common view of the way a story or novel should hang together. If they don't, it can be trouble.
